John Steers House The earliest reference to the land on which the John Steers House stands was included a 1756 lease from the Trustees of Schenectady to John Steers as transcribed by Jonathan Pearson in the 19th century. By 1785, Steers is listed as owning a house on the property, perhaps part of the current structure, although the date of construction is unknown.
The one and one-half story five-bay house, with a central entrance, has a brick facade on a wood structural frame. The bracketed cornice, two-light over two-light double hung windows, and two story porch at the west side reflect alterations of the late 19th century. The side door may have been added in the 19th century by utilizing a former window opening.
