Description
 MARTIN VAN SLYCK HOUSE

This property, like that at 205, was originally the south part of a lot on Front Street. Old records state: "Here (on the Green Street part of the Van Slyck lot at 114-116 Front Street) Martin Van Slyck built a 2-story house with a hall in the middle," a description that agrees with the present house. Since Martin Van Slyck was born in 1775, he probably did not build the house much, if any before 1800. Later the house was the home of Jacob J. Vrooman, who is mentioned as owner in the Assessment Roll of 1816.
