Old records show that the house at this location was left by the will of Abraham C. Groot, dated Aug. 27, 1803 to his son Abraham A. Groot. Probably the house was built some years before the will was drawn. The house has the field stone foundations laid up in lime mortar, hand-hewn beams of random sizes and hand split lath characteristic of that period.
