Description
 ELEVEN O'CLOCK HOUSE

Over a period of many years the Eleven O'Clock House at this location was a popular gathering place. In front hung a sign with a man pointing to a clock at the hour of eleven, when the local townsmen were accustomed to drop in for refreshment. This early structure is believed to have been built by Myndert Wemple about 1760. It was demolished in 1906 to make way for an apartment house. The building was remodeled in 1959 in a style more in harmony with the architecture of the neighborhood.
