PETER CLUTE HOUSE
Simon DeGraaf owned the house and lot at this location as early as 1784. He owned also the property between No. 41 and North Ferry Street, where he operated a wheelwright's shop. On the death of Simon, the property passed to his son Daniel who sold it in 1835, the purchaser of the house being Peter I. Clute. Records indicate that the old house was still standing as late as about 1865, but shortly thereafter reference is found to "Peter I. Clute’s new house” where Simon DeGraaf once lived.
